So today marks the end of my first week at Tilsley Bible College. It has been challenging and at times tiring but of course has been amazing!
I have to say at first I was nervous for my 4 weeks in Motherwell and meeting all these new people but as soon as I met my other roommates we couldn't stop talking. The pic above shows one of my roomies and another fellow FirstServer Jayne from Northern Ireland, one of the first people I met. There are three other FirstServers, Ella who's from Leeds, Sam her cousin, from Manchester and April from Philadelphia, USA. They've also got blogs which I'll put below.
The people that I have met here at the college are incredible and already can't imagine leaving them in a few weeks time. We're all just trying to make the most of the time we have!
So as you all know by now (I hope), I'm on a gap year with FirstServe a Christian organisation set up about 5 years ago which promotes a short time missions programme both here in the UK and abroad.
Here's my programme for the next year:
- 13th of September - 9th of October: 4 weeks at Tilsley College in Motherwell taking classes on Theology, Old Testament studies and Christian Living
- 12th of October - 13th November: 4 week at Scrabo Hall church in Belfast, Northern Ireland assisting in youth work. I'll let you know when I know more about this.
- 4th of Janurary - 2nd of April: 3 months in Dar es Salaam helping in a nursery set up by missionaries Gill and Stephen Davies working with children from ages 4-6 years.
After all this I'm also going travelling with a friend but more about that nearer the time!
I'm so excited for the year ahead and learning about all the God has planned for me as well as meeting amazing people along the way. I cannot wait to share more but I'll try not to write a book in my first post. I'll try and post again before the week is out but until enjoy this 'Gap Yah' clip which inspired my blog title.
Ta ta for now,
Lottie xx
